There's Always An Excuse to Fiesta
On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina recently put together a contest, hoping to find the top reason to drink an OTB margarita, as voted by the fans. The list of over 100 submissions was narrowed down to ten, and the winner of the top reason would receive a $50 gift certificate to any On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina location.
The types of reasons to drink an OTB margarita varied from humorous, “Because I want to drink triple, see double, and act single” to more practical reasons, “Because it is cheaper than gas.” Even pop culture had a voice in the competition, “Because this is something you can have that Justin Bieber can’t.”
After going through all of the responses, a reoccurring theme kept showing up in many of the responses: that having an OTB margarita offered some kind of escape from the stresses and nuisances of everyday life.
“I drink margaritas because it sends me to Margaritaville where I feel like I’m sunbathing by the beach and all my worries go away,” one woman said. More humorous responses to drinking an OTB margarita were “Because my kids are driving me crazy and mommy needs her “happy juice” and “Because the in-laws are in town.”
The need for an escape from work also showed up multiple times in the submissions. “It’s my lunch break and work was hell today.” Others saw margaritas as something they deserved or something they needed to cheer them up after a long day at work.
There you have it! As proven by many OTB fans, the margaritas are more than just a drink. They offer a chance to relax and forget about the ongoing stresses that life constantly brings. They allow you to daydream about sitting on a beach in Mexico and to not worry about the stack of papers sitting on your desk at work.
